Forfar Athletic consolidated their spot in the play-off places with a home win against Ayr United.
With fifth-placed Arbroath not playing due to a waterlogged pitch at Gayfield, Dick Campbell's side took full advantage by pulling three points clear.
The hosts took the lead after just nine minutes as Danny Denholm's cross was headed past his own goalkeeper by John Robertson.
Kyle McAusland headed wide three minutes before the break as the visitors pushed for an equaliser.
They managed it three minutes after the interval as David Sinclair found the bottom corner from a free-kick 30 yards out.
But they were only level for four minutes as Gavin Swankie received a pass from Dale Hilson in the area and fired into the bottom corner for his 10th goal of the season.
