Annan Athletic picked up a second successive win and dealt a blow to Montrose's promotion hopes.
After a scoreless first half, David Hopkirk fired home in the 62nd minute with a left-footed strike.
And Alistair Love tapped in the hosts' second seven minutes later.
Garry Wood pulled one back for Montrose from close range late on but it proved only to be consolation.
