Stoke's Jon Walters backed to recover by Asmir Begovic

Stoke City striker Jon Walters (centre) had a game to forget against Chelsea

Stoke's Asmir Begovic says team-mate Jon Walters will bounce back from his performance in the 4-0 loss to Chelsea.

Forward Walters scored two own goals and missed a penalty in the defeat but will hope to make amends in an FA Cup replay with Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

"I don't think anybody will worry about Jon Walters," said keeper Begovic.

"His character and personality won't be affected by anything that happens to him. It was a couple of unfortunate incidents for him."

He added: "I take the blame for the second goal because I probably should have come for the ball, but seeing him there I decided not to.

"He is a big enough character to bounce back and I am sure he will probably score a goal on Tuesday."

The loss to Chelsea was Stoke's first league defeat at their Britannia Stadium home since February, a run of 17 games.
