Derby expect Nottingham Forest game to beat weather

Derby County Football Club

Derby County chief executive Sam Rush is confident Saturday's Championship match against fierce local rivals Nottingham Forest will go ahead.

Rush told BBC Derby that unless weather conditions worsen the game will kick-off as scheduled at 13:00 GMT.

"We have had a look at the weather forecast and at the moment, we are well placed," Rush said. "We are are all desperate for the game to go ahead."

The corresponding fixture last season was called off on safety grounds.

And with the Pride Park pitch looking playable, spectator safety could once again be the main issue

He added: "We have full staff and absolute full commitment from everyone.

"We will sit down with all necessary authorities, we will talk with the police, we will talk to the various services.

"We will work from the ground out, so the pitch is the first consideration, that is absolutely fine, and then he surrounding stadia and work our way out from there.

"From my point of view the stadia is in good shape, the pitch is absolutely perfect and all being well the game will be on."
