@ Discrimination! .... we have more tha our share of j..k comentators on English matches
@346. Astonishingly BrilliantThe minimum rule I'm talking about is for Scots players only. English, Irish and Welsh players would be regarded as foreign as they also restrict Scots opportunities.A quick question... Was there ever a restriction on who SFL clubs could sign? I have a memory of something like that, but not too sure of the detail if anyone could help...
The reason why there was no vote from the SPL is now obvious. The SFL will meet this week with the suggestion that they will discuss an alternative 12-12-10-10 that could come into play next season. The SFL will look strong for leading the way, the SPL would be seen as listening to the SFL, but in the end the SPL would get what is wants, no major changes! Ever feel like you're about to me conned?
@345 correct, but it's worse. If it's a EU player having to sit on the bench, they can get you on the EU emplyment laws, if it's someone from outwith the EU, then you will be charged under the Race Relations act.
@345 I think what Bib's meaning is that as things stand a foreigner and a Scot/Brit would have the same opportunity to make the squad, it would only depend on their ability, whereas if there was a min Scots/Brits rule they wouldn't. That's where I would see it as different, it's different not making the starting line up because you're not good enough to not making it because you're foreign.
@342. Bib - "Rubbish. They would have to show that any sub was a British for a British and a foreigner for a foreigner and that it happened week in week out"What we were actually discussing was the fact that there should be a minimum amount of Scots players starting all domestic games. We did not say anything anywhere about "any sub was a British for a British and a foreigner for a foreigner".
the spls plans have no real long term financial outlook and its looking like the sfl will be vetoing this plan at least the clubs in div1 to div 3 listen to there fans when they say they don't like the set up and feel it will be bad for the game now spl clubs take note if u want to generate more money increase the size of the league to 16 and more tv sponcership and players will come thru
We should all learn the lesson "that turkeys did not vote for xmas". Who can blame a current SPL chairman voting in the best (miopic) intrests of his club ? Take the responsibilty for change away from those who have a vested intrest. Otherwise we will continue in the football wilderness for years to come. Appoint a visionary leader and empower them to make change happen, real transformation
@340 Rubbish. They would have to show that any sub was a British for a British and a foreigner for a foreigner and that it happened week in week out.Why do people come out with this garbage?
@310 Apart from where does this extra money come from , who exactly is going to win the 5 times more money 2nd tier.Is it the team finishing top of the second tier after 22 games or is it the team finishing top of the second split of eight ( which would more than likely be a SPL club)
