Queen of the South 2-1 Stenhousemuir

Queen of the South are now 18 points clear at the top of the Second Division after a narrow win over Stenhousemuir.

The Doonhamers went ahead through Derek Young in the 33rd minute as he turned the ball home following Chris Mitchell's cross.

A second was added in the last minute of the first half. Daniel Carmichael was brought down just outside the area and Mitchell curled the resulting free-kick into the top corner.

The Warriors pulled a goal back two minutes into the second period as Mark Corcoran broke through and slotted home.

Corcoran went close to a leveller with 12 minutes left but his 20-yard effort flew narrowly wide.

And Allan Johnston's side held on to record an eighth win in nine games.
