With £83 million debt I guess anyone arriving at the club with some cash can do what they want.
Surely the answer is..... EVERYBODY BE RUDE TO HIM!!!Sorted!
Tan posted his statement after the brown stuff flew - if he was serious he would have posted it before the interview being published or not said it at all. To re-iterate, if your a cardiff fan it makes no difference whether you're in the PL or the conference - its about loyality to your local team. Success comes at a price - are we willing to accept it? Not me.
What was wrong with Bluebirds?I'd also think that Newport-Gwent Dragons won't be too happy about it.
As soon as he said "brand" I died inside.Feel so sorry for all Cardiff City fans, I'm a Man City supporter and I can't even begin to imagine how angry and upset I would be if our owners changed our kit to red and our crest. I think the only way it seems for him to leave is for ALL the fans to unite and protest/boycott until he leaves.Good luck!
Don't Wrecsam have any say in this?!? Their identity looks like it is being duplicated! What would happen if Liverpool's owners decided to rebrand to play in black and white and call themselves the Magpies? Don't think that would go down too well in LIverpool or Newcastle!
This is a little bit over the top considering all he said was he was open to change. I shouldn't imagine Cardiff would need much rebranding if they achieve PL status.
For me the issue is less about rebranding, however gut-wrenching that may be for true CCFC fans, but more about the rather sinister comment "If they are rude to me I will find a buyer".I can't imagine there are many chairmen across the country who would have come out with that one. Disgraceful.Thank heavens for Huw Jenkins.
Initially I wanted to say Tan is doing his best to market the club abroad which can only be a good thing but then i stopped and thought....if somebody tried taking NUFC out of black and white stripes i'd lose my mind. Look at the backlash about the stadium name.I'm with you Cardiff fans. Tradition is everything.
He is proposing this now because he can get away with it now. If your season had tanked following the switch to red shirts, it's a safe bet that he wouldn't have had the nerve to even suggest it.
What don't people in Cardiff get? He's going to market you abroad so he makes a lot of money.Simples.
I am a rugby league fan and my beloved Leeds became the Rhinos (At least Dragons are associated with Cardiff and Wales). I didnt particularly like it but they will always be Leeds and look what success they have had.If he brings you money and success let him call the club what he wants. You can always continue to call it Cardiff.
Money is everything in the game of soccer nowadays. The sooner fans come to realise that essentially the game is run like a corporation, the sooner they will accept that without bowing to the system, their beloved clubs are all but dead, as so nearly happened with Cardiff City, to name but one. Nobody likes change but it is inevitable. No club is too big to fail. Get used to it.
In 1961, manager of LUFC Don Revie introduced a plain white strip throughout, in the hope of emulating Spanish side Real Madrid. Did they accept it? Yes!!!Are times so different now? Just a thought .....Changing a teams colours may be acceptable but to change the name I believe is outrageous. When he leaves them will the next chairman revert back?
The welsh media ask the question would you be open to further changes , the chairmen says possibly and then they have the story they want. just at the right time to disrupt what could be the best season for 60 years.over the years names change , colours change , grounds change and so do chairmen , players and fans .
