Michael Moffat scored four goals as Ayr United came from behind to beat Arbroath.
Derek Holmes tucked away Ross Chisholm's left-wing cross to give Arbroath the lead.
Moffat levelled from the penalty spot after Alexander Keddie had fouled Neil McGregor and the striker netted his second with a curling shot two minutes before the break.
The hosts were reduced to 10 men when Brian Kerr picked up a second booking and Moffat claimed his hat-trick with another spot-kick, awarded after Scott Brown had upended Liam Buchanan.
A low drive from the prolific forward completed the scoring 15 minutes from the end.
