Southport 1-2 Forest Green

Wes Burns scored an injury-time winner on his debut to give Forest Green Rovers a dramatic victory at Southport.

The hosts took the lead through Shaun Whalley's spot-kick after Kieron Forbes fouled Chris Almond in the area.

But substitute Yemi Odubade equalised when he collected James Norwood's pass and calmly finished from six yards.

Burns, who joined on loan from Bristol City earlier in the day, secured Forest Green's first win in six games with a powerful finish from close range.

The result leaves Rovers sixth in the Blue Square Bet Premier table, but they are now only three points behind fifth-placed Grimsby Town.

Forest Green manager Dave Hockaday told BBC Gloucestershire:

"In the first half we were shocking. We didn't turn up and it looked like we'd given up.

"It was the most bizarre half I've ever seen and for the second time this season I've had to rip into them.

"I don't like doing it and I shouldn't have to with the quality we've got.

"But in the second half we blew them away."
