Notts County 1-0 Scunthorpe

Dean Leacock scored a late winner as Notts County beat Scunthorpe to keep alive their fading play-off hopes.

The visitors went close within two minutes when Paul Reid's deflected effort narrowly missed the target.

Former Magpies man Karl Hawley dinked a clever chip inches wide and then missed a near open goal after Akpo Sodje's pull-back.

Leacock helped Notts close the gap on the top six to seven points when he converted Neal Bishop's knock-down.

Scunthorpe United manager Brian Laws told BBC Radio Humberside:

"We dominated the game in large periods. I feel sorry for Karl [Hawley] because he should be walking away with the match ball.

"They've got a winner which they didn't deserve. That's what the cold hard facts are that we've got to accept.

"I've got a massive belief in the players, their performance and their ability to go on and win games. [With] what they created today we should have had three points."
