Neil Warnock & Leeds United discuss possible successor

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock says he has spoken to the club about his possible successor.

Warnock, whose side on Saturday, has made no secret of his plans to leave if Leeds do not reach the Premier League.

"Once we're out of contention they know I won't be having another year in the Championship," he said.

"We've spoken about my successor, about people coming in if mathematically it's impossible to get into the play-offs."

Leeds, who are without a win in their last four matches, are now 10th and seven points adrift of the Championship play-offs.

The former Sheffield United and QPR boss took over at Elland Road last February and has had 60 games in charge, winning 23 and losing 22.

"Realistically we're running out of games and [the owners] GFH know my situation, I speak to them on a regular basis," the 64-year-old said.

"I'd like to think that I'd have an input on that because the job we've done over the last 12 months, the staff and I, I think is fantastic.

"Yes I'm frustrated because we just lack that bit of quality, a bit of midfield creativity and a bit of pace.

"We've sorted everything else out, but haven't been able to sort that out and it catches up with you."

    Im fed up of NW excuses and him continually praising himself he has been average. When SG was sacked he was 2 points off the play-off so NW can never say he done a good job.

    I'm not sure many managers could win promotion when in successive (4?) transfer windows you are forced to sell your best players and/or club captain and are given no decent funds to replace them?

    @stoneburner Financially, Leeds has regularly turned in an operating profit in the last 3 years so is now one of the most sustainable clubs in all leagues.. Bet you can't say that about your club...

    @stoneburner you clearly don't know what you're talking about. @Molesey Mighty White is right though, we are one of the very few clubs that have been making profits recently. So if that isn't sustainable, what is? Look up the meaning of the word first before commenting on a club you don't support.

    Leeds had a squad capable of playing in the PL 2 years ago, likes of Gradel, Snodgrass, Becchio, etc.

    And the right manager in Simon Grayson.

    Squad is light years away from that now, and Warnock just isn't the right fit for Leeds.

    To sum it up, Ken Bates has shown a lack of ambition, and decided to fix something that wasn't broken, and as a result, Leeds have been set back a few years.

    @14, Leeds is the only club in the fourth biggest city in the country! If anything it is one of the most sustainable teams! And we don't think we have a "right" to be in the top flight but we want to have a good go at getting there which we haven't had this season, it's just petered out... are these people saying we should just accept mid table mediocrity in the championship? That's just clueless!

    I am a lifelong supporter and see it as very sad that we bring in a manager who always leaves clubs in a mess. he needs to go and Leeds as a club need to get some quality back. We have let go the players who might have got us promotion and brought in typical warnock workers without class, Sorry none of them are Premier league players

    Firstly, I'm a Chelsea fan - "the old enemy", but I respect Leeds as a team.. Simply they deserve a better manager than Warnock. They've always been a side with commitment and a strong spirit, but recently have been underfunded. Warnock hasn't got a great track record and obviously doesn't understand what's needed to motivate the team to succeed. I really hope your new manager does a better job.

    Difficult Club Leeds, fans are very demanding and don't waste much time letting you know if you're doing crap. Dosh injection at the right time which will now be in the summer, would be good to see Leeds and Notts Forest back in the EPL, but methinks neither for this year, soz.

    He's taken a poor side and kept it a poor side. Just go mate, we didn't want you in the first place. I can't believe we sacked Grayson for this dinasour who thinks he's mourinho.

    Considering the long, drawn out takeover fiasco, and the lack of financial support Warnock has had all season, being sat mid table is a fair result for us. I think we should consider getting a new manager in within the next few weeks, and give him and chance to assess the squad ahead of summer, when we hopefully get a bit of financial muscle to make some quality signings.

    Leeds should be in the prem and the prem would be better with them in it, and that's from a man united fan. Leeds would fill their stadium every week in the prem, unlike half the current premier league, including the champions.

    If NW does go as seems most likely then the best replacement would be to bring Grayson back. He has fashioned winning teams out the most unlikely looking squads and is Leeds through and through.

    I feel for NW, I think he has done well considering what funds he's been given. I see people say hes a useless manager, how is that so when he has the highest rate of getting teams promoted? It seems to me that everyone wants Leeds to get promoted with very little funds available, thats impossible! Lets be honest in order for us to get promoted we need to be spending £15-20m.

    Do the LUFC players troop of the pitch after a loss and blame it on the Manager/Coach? Was the result down to the Players' ineptitude or some unfortunate deflections and bad Ref decisions, or are they playing to Nazi-style commands to play "this way" or fear getting shot? I doubt the latter, for I feel it is the Players (good or bad) who are ultimately responsible. But you just can't Sack 'em.

    @58. Bates didn't save Leeds. He's not an altruistic kinda guy. He put the club into administration cos he stood to lose money when we were relegated to League 1 and then bought the club back, ripping off all the creditors in the process. And he's been stiffing the fans with silly admission prices ever since.
