Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law feels the club are on the verge of securing their Blue Square Bet Premier status for a third successive season.
The Reds are eight points and six places clear of the relegation zone with just eight games remaining.
Law said: "It is testament to everyone at the club on how well we do. It is difficult and a real challenge every year to keep us in this league.
"We are not in it for definite yet, but we are almost there."
Last Saturday's 3-2 win over Gateshead was their third win during a five-game unbeaten run and took Law's side to 48 points.
He believes Alfreton deserve credit for their ability to compete with clubs who have greater resources at their disposal.
"When you look at the measure of the teams that are in and around us, it is a measure of what we do at this club," Law said.
"It is hard for everybody, chairman, committee, players, fans, and it is that which drives us on, trying to prove people wrong all the time.
"We have got a great chairman, good people working in the club, a fantastic set of players who give everything for the club and earn every single penny they get paid.
"It is a monumental achievement by everyone at the club. People just do not realise how hard it is for us, especially on such small gates."
