Only 11 matches in April - they should count themselves lucky! Guernsey FC, who play in the Combined Counties League (the league in which AFC Wimbledon started), have 17 matches scheduled for April. Plus 3 more this month and 3 or 4 during the first 5 or 6 days of May. And all their away games are overseas too!
@U15565676 "Who cares?". If you care only about your club, and it isn't Newport then you don't care. If you care about football, you care about this. The fixture jam isn't Newport's fault. Regrettably the League bosses care more about their day out at Wembly than they do the football. Another example why there should be more fan input and fewer Carlings in Blazers.
I really don't see how anyone can blame this on Gateshead. Do you seriously think we want to play our "home" games at several venues??? Does it not occur to you that this has had a big effect on our attendances and therefore our income??? People keep going on about how it effects Newport. What about us??? We still need to secure our status in this league for next season, so get a grip!!!!

Me,WTH,so investing millions on our ground would stop Gateshead postponing their HOME game four times you are joking right?Man utd would never be asked to play every two days because the premier league would do the decent thing, you so obviously never played the game otherwise you would know the body needs more than two days to recover.
As a Mansfield fan, one of their rivals for promotion, I have great sympathy for Newport. It's been largely their away matches that have been the problem, particularly the much postponed game away to Gateshead. If people are going to criticise anyone, it should be the away clubs, particularly Gateshead obviously, and the Blue Sky Premiership.
Andykeys,Newport have only had three home postponements, there's a lot of grounds who don't share with anyone who have had a lot more so you can't blame the rugby try blaming the wettest winter on record and the conference for reducing the season by two weeks so the play off finals can be played at the ridiculous oversized for our needs wembley and also the rugby does train on the pitch
no but man united are never in this position, as they invest in under soil heating and a decent pitch. so it would never happen. Newport can easily do the same if this league is so impornatnt and crucial like the prem league than invest and never be in this situation. ergo 1st comment daftas.
Me are you for real,Gateshead have postponed 4 times now at three different venues,do you think Alex ferguson would be happy if his mamby pamby team had to play every two days, the conference need to get their act together as there is a lot riding on these games what with promotions and relegation and everyone should be on the same footings, get a grip wembleys not the only venue
Get on with it. Play 7 games in 7 days its what you get paid for. Or maybe rearrange postponed games a bit quicker than leaving it for 2 months???? or spent some money on your facilities to make sure its playable???????????? easy answers really.
Lack of money in this league means that many pitches cannot cope winter, leading each March to a fixture log-jam. so why were there five free midweeks before the cups started in late October?
@Balders There were men with forks, as for the puddles they formed after kick off whilst it was pouring with rain, did you expect men with forks to come on whilst the game was being played?
4. Gateshead asked Newcastle, Sunderland to help out. They said no.
Nuneaton being threatened with expulsion from the league because their turnstiles have a bit of rust on them yet Gateshead playing musical stadiums is fine and dandy. There are lot more than just Newport who angry about this farce. The greed and incompetence of the FA and Conference are ultimately to blame. To end the season in the middle of April and have the trophy final in March is ridiculous.
I also can't help but feel that Newport haven't helped themselves by sharing with 2 rugby teams. I think a few weeks ago, the match on Tuesday would have been called off but the referee took pity on Newport's calendar! I don't think the Conference can push the end of the season back because it would be unfair on the other playoff teams. They should have had more midweek fixtures before Christmas.
Newport should not be moaning. They should just be thankful they are allowed in an English league. Many of us think that Welsh clubs (including Swansea & Cardiff) should be out of all English leagues.
Balders you must be blind because there were several men with forks so I say you don't know what you're talking about!
In the 1997/98 season, Redditch United played 9 games in 10 days.http://www.thefootballarchives.com/network/competition.php?CID=8&Season=1997-1998Go hard or go home.
Newport have not had similar problems, they have played 19 home games and 16 away games. Every team has had matches called off, but those have been due to their own pitch. I've never heard of a game being postponed at three different grounds before.
