Andy Bishop's injury time penalty earned relegation strugglers Bury a valuable point against Crewe.
Kelvin Mellor teed up teenager Max Clayton to put Crewe ahead at half-time, before Tom Soares' shot on the turn trickled in to make it 1-1.
Substitute Brad Inman lashed home to restore the Alex's lead.
But Bishop levelled from the spot in the 94th minute, after home skipper Steven Schumacher was tripped in the box by defender Mark Ellis.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Bury manager Kevin Blackwell told BBC Radio Manchester:
"Our problem is hitting the back of the net. It could have been four or five by half time. It's just how it is at the moment.
"As a football club, we've got to keep going. It's been a hard season this season and today shows exactly how hard it's been.
"The beauty of it is that we're going into the last stages of the season and we're still in with a shout of staying up."
