Newport 0-0 Dartford

Newport's stuttering form continued with their automatic promotion hopes fading after playing out a goalless draw with mid-table Dartford.

Aaron O'Connor tested Csaba Somogyi with a right-footed effort from the edge of the area while Andy Sandell had an attempt saved at the other end.

Lenny Pidgeley did well to keep out Charlie Sheringham's shot while later saving Tom Bonner's header.

The Exiles are now 10 points behind Kidderminster with three games in hand.

But crucially they are nine behind second-placed Mansfield who have played the same number of games as the Welsh side.

Newport manager Justin Edinburgh told BBC Radio Wales:

"A clean sheet is positive - that's three consecutive clean sheets - and I think we had the chance to have won it.

"But with Azza [striker Aaron O'Connor] getting in there, he's getting into scoring positions and it's only a matter of time before the goals come back for this team.

"Any game that we don't win we're frustrated but you have to respect the opposition and they're a team that have done very well this season and they didn't make it easy for us."
