Tamworth 0-1 Mansfield

Mansfield Town kept up their remarkable charge towards the Blue Square Bet Premier title with a club record 11th consecutive victory away at Tamworth.

Defender Luke Jones hit the second-half winner, showing wonderful composure to slot home his seventh goal of the season after great work by Matt Green.

Tamworth edged the first half but missed several chances, and Michael Wylde hit the bar late on.

Green also hit the woodwork for the visitors, who held on to remain second.

The Stags are still a point behind leaders Kidderminster Harriers, who came back from a goal down to beat Braintree.

But they have three games in hand on their main title rivals and five wins from their last seven games will guarantee promotion back to the Football League.

The Lambs are 16th, but only two points clear of the relegation zone.

Mansfield Town manager Paul Cox told BBC Radio Nottingham:

"I thought it was one of the ugliest games I've ever been involved with and I said to the lads at half-time that it's not about performances.

"It was a second-ball game - the ball seemed to be up in the air all the time and we needed to adapt and overcome everything that happened.

"Luckily enough we did, we scored a good goal. Give credit to Tamworth, they threw the kitchen sink at us at the end, but we were resilient and we ground out a very good result."
