Newport secured a Blue Square Bet Premier play-off spot with victory over Braintree at Rodney Parade.
The only goal came three minutes after the break as Conor Washington scored his first goal for Newport.
Aaron O'Connor played in Washington, who outmuscled a defender and shot through the legs of Nathan McDonald.
O'Connor had fired over the bar during a first half in which Newport had found it hard against a resolute Braintree defence.

Newport County manager Justin Edinburgh told BBC Radio Wales:
"I think it's a marvellous achievement. We've been very consistent over the course of the season and never been out of the top five.
"We played on a difficult surface, very dry and bobbly but I thought we played the conditions well
"Braintree came here and made it difficult but we got that all important first goal which was a great goal and I'm pleased for Conor Washington. I thought he was outstanding from start to finish.
"I'm pleased with the result and again another clean sheet."
