Gavin Malin struck in either half as Forfar Athletic edged an enthralling game to defeat East Fife.
Forfar drew first blood after 20 minutes thanks to Malin, who unleashed an unstoppable 20-yard strike into the top corner.
But East Fife equalised a minute before the break in spectacular fashion themselves. Martyn Fotheringham was penalised for a foul and Robert Sloan produced a wonderful free-kick which found the bottom corner.
The home side restored their advantage just after half-time though, Malin's drive from outside the area finding the net.
East Fife levelled again after 79 minutes through Scott McBride's close-range header but Forfar soon regained the lead when Gavin Swankie swept in from six yards for his 13th goal of the season.
Forfar remain a point off a promotion play-off place but have a game in hand.
