219.What you have to take into account is that we weren't 6th when Benitez took over, we were 2nd! Therefore there has been no improvement under Benitez but quite the opposite. No of course I don't blame the waiter for not winning the Champions League but of course I blame him for not winning the FA Cup. Who in their right mind leaves their best players on the bench for an FA Cup semi final?
219@.I was watching the phone-in,with Cundy,Dixon and Langley, after the LFC game. An old Chelsea fan called in made some good points, but then said that he did not think that Rafa wanted to win the game. Jason, as I do disagreed with him. But for 1 second do I think Rafa gave it 100 per cent. What was JT on the bench for,if not for that situation. FT left on as a favour.
217. Don't talk crap. If we end up in the top four, yes, that is a significant improvement over sixth.Yes, we won the CL last season. You know how many clubs have managed back to back CL's? You gotta a real imbecile to blame Rafa for not winning back to back CL's or even back to back FA Cups.
In all fairness Chelsea were the best team over 94 minutes.
215.No it wouldn't be a significant improvement. 6th place and a European Cup winners medal and an FA Cup winners medal is a much better season than 3rd/4th and possibly a UEFA Cup winners medal in my eyes. Nothing has improved in Benitez' time at the club (we've gone backwards since he was appointed) and that is a FACT! The sooner he heads back to his tapas bar the better.
212.I'm not really bothered about long/short term strategies I'm interested in the right strategy which clearly Chelsea have. The trophies speak for themselves. Also it's not always a positive thing to bring through youngsters. Would Cleverly or Wellbeck still be at United if they hadn't come through the youth team let alone be playing on a semi regular basis?
194 There are no trophies for "When Rafa took over we were second". Positions in the middle of the season count for nothing. Only one matters, the position at the end. We were sixth last year, iF we end up top four, a SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT.

@211 Piazon is the that excites me the most although Feruz is very useful (reminds me of defoe) as is Ake & I think it is those three who have the best chance of becoming world beaters@212 Agreed but not sure where that stability will come from unless we go for Moyes or Klopp (who would be barmy to leave BVB 4 us).
@all It's what I've said 2 city fans re:academy development. It's all well & good saying it, it's another putting it in2 practise. cfc have got some great youngsters, they just need 2b bedded in2 the team. Problem is that there's no long term strategy in terms of management, so the managers are reluctant 2 take a risk on a youngster.
207. Islam Feruz is the one that I would rate as Chelsea’s biggest young prospect. He scores goals for fun and was the top scorer in the Next Gen Series (youth European Cup) but no doubt he’ll be loaned out for 6 seasons and then released/sold.
