It is clear that many tackles where the ball is taken can now be given as fouls because the recipient ends up (sometimes all too easily) on the ground. The game at the highest levels is becoming too boring, the ball being continually passed back to defenders at International level just one symptom. I deplore the tackling of the sixties and seventies, but it's gone a bit too far for me.
Try again next season, but this time penalise the penalty area wrestling nonsense at set pieces, punish the play acting injuries and simulation and do not tolerate any lip from the players to the refs. Then we may see the true picture.

I wonder what the percentage would be if you removed Man United and Howard Webb from the equation.
@227 both of you are failures as he missed Rafael on his list and you missed that he missed it ...
There are MORE fouls being comitted but referees are being intimidated by certain managers and the fouls are not being acknowledged.Every single corner or free kick if refereed properly would show 20 fouls being committed with holding shirt pulling etc. More penalties being awarded instead of referees shirking their duties would stop this.
227 And what does that tell you, along with the other records they have set in favourable sendings off and favourable penalty decisions, about the way the refs treat MU ?To many people with their head in the sand.
@233 what? could I ask for that in English please?
How thick do they think the public are? This information means nothing except creating an illusionary governance? It's not as though they've looked at something important such as how many fouls are CORRECTLY called or not called, that would be to revealing and worrying. The head of the referees is basically highlighting the fact that the refs are incapable of keeping up with the modern game.
Stoke have only been in the premier league since 2008 which proves Wenger's pathetic witch hunt is just because he cannot win away at Stoke. Its no coincidence that since Arsenal stopped being physical and stopped winning trophies the number of fouls have dropped. Although Jack 'thug' Wilshere does his best which is obviously why his picture is used for this article
