Lotta bullwinkle goin on here! But, Iwould like to say, well dne boys! Fantastic result against a team as good as basel (man u/totn) . See you at the finish line. Mourinho! Welcome back HOME. Miss you JOSE.
Fans boo their manager or players from time to time. Arsenal, Spurs, United, Newcastle, QPR etc. This is part of football....am not too sure why some non Chelsea fans are getting so emotional about Rafa!!!
279.cpeskettI would like to remind the ManU fans criticizing Chelsea fans' treatment of BenitezSo only Manchester United fans criticise the guy ? Who knew ?
I don't think players not playing abroad is any kind of concern at all.Italy have long had a culture where their players rarely play abroad, in fact it is almost an unwritten rule that if an Italian plays abroad, he won't get picked for his national side. The main reason top Brits don't move abroad is simply to do with sponsors. Why would sponsors want them to move to less(TV) popular leagues?
@278 frankfurt_redOh absolutely, there are many reasons why British players do not generally move abroad. Primarily most are not good enough or would be overpriced. Those that have the ability e.g. Gazza, Ian Rush fail to adapt to the culture and I suspect that would apply to Rooney. It is not a concern for the Premier League as lots of money is flowing in but in the long run is a concern.
@267.TriggRNC That's the nature of business, it can be a murky affair. Particularly in football, as we all know.
I would like to remind the ManU fans criticizing Chelsea fans' treatment of Benitez just exactly how they treated him when he was at Liverpool. And yet, somehow now he is a great manager. As to the EL, the rules of the CL say the 3rd place teams get to drop to the EL. Chelsea are just following the rules. And at least they took this competition seriously, as did Spurs, and unlike ManU...
@BaggiosYou don't see so many English players playing abroad cos they feel very comfortable playing in the Pl, which let's face it is probably the most competitive league atm. Also I think they find it difficult adapting to the different culture abroad (no mushy peas, ;-). Have been some exceptions though (Becks, Owen). Gerard, Lamps, Rio, Rooney could easily play abroad but chose to stay.
274. If Mourinho doesn’t return there will be plenty of other top class managers interested in the Chelsea job. You get the chance to work with world class players, get a decent transfer budget and have as good a chance as any club in World football of winning major trophies. Plus you’re more than likely to get a decent payoff whether you do well (Di Matteo) or bad (AVB).
@275 Maybe Torres has been to see Fuentes? Its definitely him, looking grumpy under the mask. Did you see his reaction when Luiz scored. he just threw his arms in the air in disbelief & annoyance that a CB/CDM can do something like that. Properly funny.I was saying last season we should try him in the middle or out @ FB as he clearly wasn't a CB. He has improved at CB but is still better in DM.
@272 David LuizMaybe it's not Torres!?@274 dintfinksoHe's been through most of the managers with pedigree he wants or who would consider going there. Tough to see which way he'd turn.As for Luiz he certainly looks like a better midfielder than defender. My old man's been saying he should play up all season (not often you'll hear me say he really had a point!).
What will happen if Mourinho decides he doesn’t want to go to Chelski, will they have to choose from Neil Warnock, Dean Holdsworth, Alex McLeish or Michael Appleton next year (that’s about the only ones desperate enough)
I feel happy and shout louder whenever El~Nino put us ahead in whatever circumstances. David Luizs goal was incredible and real thanking him for the best jobs he's doing for us this season. Besides HAZARD, he'll be THE BLUES's Player of The Season 2012/2013. make my words
@270 He just made it look so easy didn't he.@271 With regards to Torres, his nose must be fixed by now, the mask must be a superstition thing for him@268 Its the standard now that the game is less physical. Those little tricky players who used to have to stay on the wing for their own protection can play inside without getting taken out.
@269 dontfinksoLeave the fish in the barrel alone, there's no sport in it ;-)Just to stay on topic, Chelsea despite a couple of scares did look good last night. As for Benitez he could adopt the alias the Torres whisperer. He's certainly got him playing again even if he isn't back to his best (and his form in the PL is still disappointing).
