David Rowson retained Stenhousemuir's outside chance of a promotion play-off place with the winner away to third-top Brechin City.
The visitors found themselves in front after eight minutes when veteran midfielder Rowson rifled home from 25 yards to score his first goal of the season.
Stenny continued to dominate and they doubled their lead in the 34th minute when Jamie Reid found the top corner of Michael Andrews' net from the edge of the area.
Brechin started the second half brightly and they pulled one back in the 75th minute when Alan Trouten fired in from the middle of the box.
Stenhousemuir almost made it 3-1 in the 85th minute when Bryan Hodge tried his luck from 20 yards out.
However, his effort clattered the post and bounced to safety.
Stenny are three points below Arbroath and two adrift of Forfar Athletic going into the final weekend but have a superior goal difference.
