Alex Lawless: Midfielder commits future to Luton Town
Luton Town midfielder Alex Lawless has signed a new two-year deal with the club, despite holding talks with Football League sides.
The 30-year-old attracted the attention of two unnamed League One teams before committing to John Still's Blue Square Bet Premier outfit.
Lawless played 48 times this season and scored the winner in in January.
"Alex has had a great year," Still told the club website.
"And I have been really pleased with his contribution since I have been at the club.
"The fact that League One clubs wanted him - and I'm aware of who those clubs are - is a fantastic testament to what he thinks of Luton Town.
"He's got a great association with this club and I think in his mind he's thinking, 'I've been here three years and if I leave now it might be the best time, and I don't want miss out on that'."
Welshman Lawless joined the Hatters from York in 2010 and has scored 12 times in 124 appearances.
He follows fellow midfielder Solomon Taiwo in signing a new contract, the 28-year-old having agreed a two-year deal earlier this week.
