Even as a United fan, I've got a lot of time for Carragher. Any player who stays loyal to their club for their entire career deserves respect in this day and age. Never one to mouth off about other clubs, and carried himself with dignity, professionalism and has been a consistent performer for 16 years.
395.Celticccccccc1 Hour ago@FergyTime Everybody, including Liverpool fans, showed respect for Fergie when he retired.Everybody ? go back n read the articles. I doubt even you believe what you wrotr
395.Celticccccccc At least SAF achieved a great deal and has left a legacy.I'm afraid that Carra is an overrated average player and should have gone 2 or 3 years ago.One thing he was good at in thelast few years was fouling and getting away with it.
@395-don't make me laugh, the celt and scouse bile was all over the internet when Sir Alex retired!! "Carra", a dedicated and honest professional who walked away from England in a strop because he had to sit on the bench. And came snivelling back when there was a last hoorah in the offing. The honest pro who threw coins at supporters. The honest pro in the papers for exposing himself..yes-"hero"
@FergyTime Everybody, including Liverpool fans, showed respect for Fergie when he retired. Its a shame that you can't really return the favour when a dedicated and honest professional retires from football who has been a hero to the club's fans.
Wasn't a coke head tho!!
392.FergyTime Excellent summary.
Carragher was loyal = no one else wanted him. Carragher was a model pro = he sulked off from England squad duty. Carragher loved the club, he would of died for the shirt = Carragher threw coins at football fans. Carragher didn't have to talk himself up or talk himself onto the backpage = no one understands his slurring
The fact is everyone despises Chelsea. Everyone!!! Even their manager hates them! Another fact is when they held their Far East tour last year hardly anyone turned up. Liverpool sold out every ground a week later. The sold 90,000 tickets in one day for Melbourne's legendry MCG. All to see Liverpool and legends like Carra!!!!!
388.ignitionpoint Why compare Carra with jon7150 who is giving an opinion. Why not compare Carra with all the other footballers who have NEVER been in the newspaper for the wrong reason, unlike Carra.
As I just commented on the Frank Lampard piece, the word legend is oft bandied about nowadays, for me JC is nowhere near a legend. An average player for a team/club that used to be great. Also looks like Jon7150 actually managed to set IgnitionPoint off, so that's one very low ignition point there.
@ jon7150And what have you achieved in your life that you feel you can judge carragher in this way. This man unlike 95% of his compatriots has been a model pro, never in the paper for the wrong reasons, always visiting sick kids in the local hospital and always doing charity work. His probably achieved more and contributed more in any give day than you've done in your entire pathetic exsistance
@386 - It should have read"Total failure is Carraghers regret"
"Title failure is Carragher's regret"Typo. Should have read:"Title failure is Carragher's fault"
@381 - No it isnt, so if you have turned up for that as usual you will be dissapointed. Some people on here speak sense.@382 - You are also forgetting that DB was 100x the player our jamie was / is and was always happy to represent his nation.
Carragher a model professional?Best joke I have heard all day! The same Carragher who used to expose himself at parties and who was sent off for throwing coins at supporters? He could have blinded someone and likes whipping his tackle out at parties but he is a model pro LOL
JC is a far better pro than DB, just so happened DB was a bit better looking, thankfully for JC as Rebecca Loos liked him.
@TriggRNC, jon7150 is this amateur night?
