@7- How do you know he expected a 'warm' reception? When he slagged Chelsea off previously he was, shock horror, serving the intesrests of his club at the time. So, you don't think you can be blamed for being angry, but it was blown out of proportion by the media...so which is it? He offended you huh? Big deal. He's what you got, he over-achieved, deal with it.
"Rafa is a now a Chelsea legend. Mourinho is a Real Madrid reject". Are we going to see a banner with these words at Stamford bridge. No unless Frank and Terry seat on the bench.
The appointment of Rafa Benitez and the subsequent vitriolic reaction of the majority of CFC Fans is a sad testament to all that is wrong with modern day football. Bottom line is he outwitted the so called Special One and made disparaging remarks about your flags, get over it. You and all know that with your plastic flags on European nights, Stamford Bridge looks like a North Korean rally !
Llike most most fans l cringed at your appointment but you proved me wrong well done Rafa thanks for believing in Chelsea when Chelsea didn't believe in you. You carried yourself with dignity and I wouldn't be sorry to hear you was staying
@130 Agree never seen so many teddies out of the cot, what would chopper harris have to say. Grow up and be men you spoilt Chelsea fans....
@130...Well you would know when you call yourself "Ross Candyfloss" !
The default voice setting for ungrateful Chelsea fans is a one-year-old struggling to get out of his high chair. All this terrace hard-man swagger from middle-class megastore mercenaries is risible.
Rafa has done a good job and will get a great reception today...One other thing, if Rafa goes to Everton will all Evertonians forgive him for calling them a small club when he was at Liverpool?...And will the media make such a BIG deal about it? Nope..I doubt it !!!
Rafa has done OK in the end. He could (and should) have said that what he came out with at LFC was in support of his club against another hard core manager. But Ron is right, lets wish Rafa well. And to hell with Rooney. If Chelsea can move heaven and earth to get Ronaldo they should. Better than Messi who has been loved up by UEFA & FIFA. OK he is a great player but the team was built for him.
kevinho ............. heading for nothing,,,,,,WE HAD JUST WON THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE YOU @@@@@@And its you that should grow up,oh and if you look at the stats he has not been any better than Roberto di matteo
so nearly bye bye then Rafa B. You not done too badly at Chelsea. The fans did not like you for the longest time and like you now(not too much) its time to go. You have actually done Ok. Winning a nice to win cup and qualifying for the big cup with the really big ears (unlike yours). Back on the managers merry go round. Real Madrid? Everton? Wirral United? Monaco? Good luck Rafa wherever you go.
Lolz.Typical ungrateful, brain-dead Chavs...
I never understood why people harboured long term grievances to Rafa. If Roman chooses him then those stupid fans should accept that.Rafa has done as well as any other manager and this year pulled he team together when it was heading for nothing. Chelsea have lost points due to some fans being negative and blind to reality just happy to wallow in their little world of nastiness. Grow up!
Rafa is not as good as others say he is The Coaches job is to send out his team with the right tactics to win the gameRafa is absolutely hopeless at this. His record speaks for itself, Istanbul and any number of Chelsea games this season. Man Utd, Man City FA Cup?I will grant you that he can change it and produce spectacular results but it's only remedying a mess of his own making.
Lets face it Rafa has proved his worth this season and done a good job, with a good team, but I think hes leaving a lot wiser and quieter..
ANOTHER Rafa story.I have the same question every week when a Rafa story comes out. What did Rafa expect when he took this job? It was ALWAYS going to be tough to win the fans because of his liverpool days, he was ALWAYS the intern manager as stated in his contract. So even if he won the CL he was always a intern ! did he honestly expect them to give him the JOB !!!
