Norwich City boss Chris Hughton keen to strengthen
Norwich City boss Chris Hughton has said he will be expected to add to his squad over the summer.
The Canaries secured Premier League survival last week and ended the season with
"There's no doubt we have a good squad. We've showed that at Man City and shown it at various times this season," Hughton told BBC Radio Norfolk.
"But it is our responsibility to the club, owners and supporters to strengthen if we're able to."
With just two games to go Hughton's side were 15th, three points above the drop zone and on a run of two wins in 17 matches.
But victories over West Brom last week and Manchester City on Sunday have seen them finish the campaign in a respectable 11th place.
Preparations for next season have already begun, with Dutch striker for a reported £8.5m fee and
"What we would like to do is strengthen if we can. It's not always easy because we have 19 other teams trying to do the same," added Hughton.
"What I'm delighted about is that we've brought one in already. We've done our business early. And we're certainly looking forward to seeing Ricky next season."
Meanwhile, Hughton confirmed that defender Sebastien Bassong's absence at the Etihad was to rest an ongoing knee injury.
"He's had a little problem and played through it. We deliberated over whether to play him," he said.
"It wouldn't have been a massive problem if we had played him. But we didn't have to and you hope you get away with it and we did.
"We look forward to Seb resting over the summer and having a good pre-season."
