Mark Hughes 'saved the Loftus Road club from relegation that season', what a joke. They weren't in the relegation zone when they sacked Neil Warnock and appointed Hughes, and probably wouldn't have been relegated this season if they'd stuck with Warnock.
His words that he wants to succeed for the club and improve the team are just that - words. He doesn't have a clue. Where is he suddenly going to learn tactics and motivation skills where he has never anged before?
You would like to see managers improving, the more years they have on the job. Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case with Hughes, who has been going steadily downhill. His association with that snake oil salesman Kia Joorabchian certainly hasn't helped.
What a disaster for Stoke fans if this move eventuates. Good governance should mean that the board should resign should the predictable happen ; Stoke goes backwards under Hughes. He will come up with all sorts of excuses but there has only been common denominator in his recent mangerial appointments - and it has not been lack of funds. I can't believe it
I am appalled by the cynics on here. He has not even began managing and already most posters on here are certain he is a bad choice and making assumptions about how they will do. Give him a chance. I think he could do OK. Where does it say he won't? Just not against my team. Speaking of which, just a shame when it comes to Paolo Di Canio people cannot award my team the same leeway and patience.
....And i thought we had problems at Liverpool!
The great sages say........."It is a wise man who knows himself...but it is a total balloon who believes his own hype enough to waste millions at Man. City."So, question for Stoke fans..... is Hughes now wise enough?
why would stoke hire a manager who had all the money in the world with man city but failed, left fulham as they didnt feel they matched his ambitions and qpr where he bought some great individual players and some not so but still failed to build a cohesive team capable of competing in the premiership. He clearly must've sold a dream in the interview because from his track record he wont last long.
That must have been a bloody good PowerPoint.
Dear TonyI think what you did for Stoke City was Outstanding!!I think the small minded people of Stoke on Trent have very short memories! They either weren't at Cheltenham on a cold miserable lonely Monday night or they have forgot a very warm Thursday night at Valencia I will always be your fan and thank you for the memories!!Alex Woollven (Rifleman Inn)
Hughes is a dreadful manager.
Don't know why everyone is so against Pulis, Moyes played pretty much the same style most seasons with Everton and he's allegedly the best manager in the country. Stoke weren't pretty, but they were effective. Tough job now as they have overachieved, will lose their goalkeeper in the close season, and desperately need a striker - guess it depends who Hughes' agent wants him to sign.
If Hughes does OK for the first half of the season then he'll be looking for an out to get a job with a club that matches his ambitions. But more likely Stoke will continue to play the dreary, dogged football that Pulis served up, but probably with less success. Stoke will remain one of the least popular clubs in the EPL.
Why are Stoke fans so anti Hughes!? Could it be his record in charge of Blackburn was less than inspiring? That despite having millions to spend at City they still looked like also rans? Or that his QPR side were woeful despite spending a fortune on mercs in the summer? Hmmm?
Ian Holloway would have been a better shout and thats no disrespect to Ollie whose talent as a manager is clouded out by his comical character, but Hughes doesnt even play great football and thinks he is gods gift, Stoke are a club who need a new direction for there immense fans to get stuck into! Love him for that goal against Vincenza but his record is poor, stoke wont go down though 12-16
Mark Hughes LMAO, why would anyone employ him again with his record. TP was doing a great job and now you have Hughes so funny ROFL
Let's suppose Stoke stay up & play a more entertaining brand of football next season. How many of those posting here that "he will take them down" will come back and admit they were wrong? I haven't the faintest idea how Stoke will do next season - nor how most of the other clubs in the Football league will do, because changes to playing staff, managers, injuries, luck, poor refereeing decisions.
I think its really unfair to comment on hughes just because of his time at qpr, how about Roy hodgson, did he win the premier league with liverpool?? The special one didnt win anything last year & has some of the greatest players in the world lol every manager goes thro a bad period & no offence but stoke are not a top 4 side & TP didnt deserve the sack
