Ian Henderson extends Rochdale stay by signing two-year deal

Versatile forward Ian Henderson has agreed a new two-year contract with League Two club Rochdale.

The 28-year-old moved to Spotland in February after being released by Colchester and made 12 appearances for Keith Hill's side, scoring three goals.

Defenders Joe Rafferty and Michael Rose, plus goalkeeper Steve Collis, have all signed new terms with Dale since the end of the campaign.

Hill has also made three new additions to his squad ahead of next season.

Aldershot's Peter Vincenti, Hyde's Scott Hogan and Sheffield Wednesday's Bastien Hery have all agreed transfers to Rochdale.

On Henderson's decision to stay, assistant manager Chris Beech told the club website: "What he brings to the football club on a daily basis will only help us as a team. He is also a great mentor for the younger players who will be around the squad next season.

"I have no doubt that Ian had other options but Keith, myself and the rest of the staff work hard at building relationships with these players. Ian enjoyed his time here and I'm sure that has played a big part in his decision."
