@282 WIngerThinking with one's brain is far more productive than with one's birth certificate.Spain, world and European champions, not exactly shy of having a talented foreigner or two in la liga.In cricket, India has loaded the IPL with international stars, look at the results, new, confident world beating talent emerging by the day.Our players are superstars for doing nothing!
@296 No dont spot a pattern2 dominent teams in Scotland since 70's, several teams in England winning title so no dont at all. The difference between top 2 (now 1 of course) and rest is massive in Scotland where in England top 2 has changed a few times and next 5/6 teams still excellent, but whatever we do or do not have in common it won't solve this issue thats for sure.
He's absolutely spot on,U21 side and full England team are woefull, there isn't one world class English footballer in the world today, not a one. What have Germany done when in the same boat? They play simple, tight and disciplined football. Why can't our players and managers do this, that is the question!
@283 Jose Balotelli. Before criticizing Scottish football, it would be best to pay attention to what happened there. Best country in Britain for producing talent in the 70s, then the complete dominance of two teams, followed by a huge inflow of foreign 'talent'. End result: Poor national team. Spot a pattern?
You still there Pearce ?
Next the senior team will not be good enough to qualify for the major tournaments. The FA is a disaster and the Premier League is killing England's development - but don't worry though, it's the best league in the world!
It is the whole system that is to blame, not just Pearce. The FA and Premier League are so blinded by money that the tomorrow factor does not come into account. The FA should be ashamed.
Another nail in the coffin of the "best league in the world" guff that gets spouted by the media. Get over it, your just not very good and have NO chance of winning the Euro Champs far less the World Cup.
282.Winger Your'e little campaign on these threads isn't working
@286Ineresting article but there are so many unknowns to those of us not actually inside the game. What do we really know about players & their motivations ? This is not helped by the total deviousness rampant in the whole system,I honestly believe Tony Blair was more open & honest than those involved in football !!!!!
You could pick people at the counter of the labour exchange that would have more idea about football tactics than Pearce, Hodgson and the incompetent FA.
Just wrote a blog about whats wrong with England Under 21s, some of you might find it interesting, please feel free to make any comments http://rodandbob.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/england-under-21s-playing-badly-are-we.html
Give me a break, Pearce has proved too many times he is not up to the job. He does not prep the team fully nor set the tactics right.
We got to the semis in 2007, and look how that batch of players has turned out so far. Leroy Lita - playing a huge role in the England set up nowadays. Big BIG player for us.
To be honest, with the investment, structure and money involved in the English game, any team we put out, at any level, should be able to beat their Israeli equivalent. Stuart Pearce can blame the players as much as he likes but if you've got a team of Premiership and future Premiership stars playing, you should be scoring goals and winning matches.
@280 Scotia - "The structure of the game is a joke in England "Should we use the Scottish template then, now there is a joke , in fact it gets funnier every season. I will have you a bet who wins the SPL next year?
It's not the players fault, it's the fans fault. You, who go to matches, who buy merchandise, you are all at fault. If you boycotted these clubs until they bought/played only English players and stop the increasing number of gifted foreigners playing in your teams, then perhaps, eventually, your national side would not be a laughing stock, ridiculed the world over. The lot of you are mugs!
Stop clubs signing players before 14 years of age - clubs should have to run leagues for under 14's,13's and 12's of at least 14 sides each in each league, coaching them and providing appropriately sized and well kept pitches. There should be no league titles only trophies for best attack, best passing team ,least goals conceded with end of season tournaments.Club players for referees.
