David McDaid: York City release former Derry striker

David McDaid has moved from Derry to York City

Striker David McDaid has left York City by mutual consent after a five-month spell at Bootham Crescent.

The 22-year-old originally agreed an 18-month contract after joining from Derry City in January.

He scored 28 goals in 105 games during four years with the Candystripes but made just four substitute appearances for York and failed to find the net.

In 2008, Northern Ireland-born McDaid made two appearances for the Republic of Ireland Under-19s.
