Europa League: KR Reykjavik 0-0 Glentoran
An inexperienced Glentoran side produced a battling display to hold KR Reykjavik to a scoreless draw in their Europa League first qualifying round, first leg game on Thursday night.
The Glens went into the tie as underdogs against the Icelandic League leaders, who had won eight of their opening nine matches of the season.
The second leg will be played at the Oval next Thursday, 11 July.
The visitors went into the game without Jimmy Callacher and David Scullion.
Eddie Patterson's side are also becoming accustomed to life without experienced quartet Colin Nixon, Sean Ward, Stephen Carson and Andrew Waterworth.
The Irish Cup winners played pre-season games against Dundalk and Ards in preparation for the European tie.
After the match Patterson hailed the workrate of his players as "fantastic".
"We knew it was going to be difficult but we had a gameplan and every player to a man stuck to that.
"We kept our shape, managed to throw bodies behind the ball and we even had a couple of half-chances in the first half.
"They know what we are about now and it makes for an interesting game in Belfast next week."
