Stevenage: Jon Ashton takes over captaincy
Stevenage defender Jon Ashton has been named club captain following the departure of Mark Roberts to Fleetwood.
The 30-year-old has made over 160 appearances for Boro since joining the club from Grays Athletic in 2009.
Manager Graham Westley told the club website: "Ash has a great history at the club, he wins football matches and he leads men."
Westley also confirmed that talks are ongoing with two defenders about joining his squad.
He said: "The club was wise enough to recognise that Robbo was likely to depart and the excellent signings of Ben Chorley and Luke Jones were strong proactive moves to build our new defence.
"We haven't finished though and negotiations have already opened on making two further important defensive additions. Our focus is just on moving forwards."
