Hereford United: Bulls sign Joel Edwards and Jon Brown

Hereford United have re-signed former Bulls youth team player Joel Edwards on a season-long contract.

The Bulls have also signed striker Jon Brown on a short-term, initial three-month deal, to take boss Martin Foyle's squad to 13 for the coming season.

Edwards was given a one-year deal during Graham Turner's time as boss but did not play a first-team game and has since played in the local leagues.

He has also been working as a Hereford United Community Trust coach.

"Joel has come in and done well," said Bulls boss Martin Foyle. "He's a good lad, who's coming out of his shell. I've seen a vast improvement in just a couple of weeks.

"It's great for a local lad to get a deal. He came in after several recommendations locally and he's risen to the challenge."

Brown, who started his career at Cardiff City, has played in Australia, Belgium and Thailand, where he was last season.

He has also had loan spells at Wrexham and AFC Telford United (at the start of last season) in the Conference.

"Jon's another who has come in and done well in the couple of games he's played." added Foyle.

"He can play anywhere across the front line, which is obviously something that will be a big bonus with the size of squad we have. It's up to him to show us he deserves to stay for longer."

The Bulls also have experienced defender Chris Barker training with them after arriving on trial following his end-of-season release by Southend United.

He played - and scored - for the Bulls in a midweek pre-season friendly 4-0 win at local side Wellington.
