Bradley Wright-Phillips has joined MLS side New York Red Bulls following his release by Charlton.
The 28-year-old striker finished last season on loan at League One Brentford, scoring five goals in 15 games, and his move is subject to a visa application.
He has also played for Manchester City, Southampton and Plymouth.
Sporting director Andy Roxburgh told the Red Bulls website: "He'll add another dimension to the roster with his pace and technical ability."
Wright-Phillips's elder brother Shaun, 31, plays for Queens Park Rangers.
