Montrose survived the loss of Paul Watson and the concession of a late penalty to beat League One side Arbroath in the Scottish League Cup.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the second period following Watson's foul on Ross Chisholm.
Ross McCord scored with a 25-yard free-kick to give the League Two outfit a second-half advantage.
And goalkeeper Stuart McKenzie saved Robert Linn's penalty to preserve Montrose's lead.
