Derek Lyle scored all three of Queen of the South's goals as Annan Athletic were eliminated from the Scottish League Cup.
After a scoreless first half, Annan's Peter Watson was dismissed for a second booking early in the second half.
Lyle then headed Queens ahead and added his second with a rebound shot after Michael Paton's fierce shot had been saved.
Another nodded goal by the striker completed his hat-trick.
