Both sides finished with 10 men as East Fife beat Scottish League One rivals Arbroath at the Bayview Stadium.
All three goals came in the first half with Scott Durie heading home and Liam Buchanan netting the hosts' second with a penalty.
Arbroath's Colin Hamilton was sent off for conceding the spot-kick - a foul on Craig Johnstone - but Alan Cook's free-kick halved the visitors' deficit.
Durie was dismissed for receiving a second booking but the Fifers held on.
