TNS boss Craig Harrison predicts close Welsh Premier title race

The New Saints director of football Craig Harrison says he expects the Welsh Premier League title race to be closer this season.

Saints begin the defence of their title at home to Port Talbot Town on Saturday.

Harrison's side finished 22 points ahead of second-placed Airbus UK to secure their seventh title last season.

"I don't think the league, whoever wins it, will be won by the same amount of points," Harrison said.

"I think that was almost a one-off last season.

"It was 22 points in the end which I think was a little bit false but it certainly won't happen again."

Harrison expects Broughton-based Airbus UK, managed by Andy Preece, to be Saints' main title rivals once again this season.

"You look at last season and I think it will be exactly the same," Harrison added.

"I think you've got to say Airbus are going to be huge rivals of ours.

"Airbus were very strong last year. Andy [Preece] has done a fantastic job there in a short space of time."
