Luton 0-0 Grimsby

Luton were forced to settle for a point against Grimsby after dominating a goalless Conference Premier encounter.

In their first match the Mariners withstood long spells of pressure from the home side throughout.

Steve McNulty, Paul Benson, Jake Howells and Luke Guttridge all missed presentable chances for the Hatters.

Alex Rodman provided Grimsby's best moments in attack, coming close with a 30-yard free-kick and a header.

Luton boss John Still told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"I'm really pleased with how we played. I think we've got our way of playing now, which the players have got on to.

"The only thing we're disappointed with is that we haven't scored the goal that wins the game. We have people that can score, I know that we do.

"Overall, I'm delighted with how we've played."

Grimsby manager Paul Hurst told BBC Radio Humberside:

"It's a good result for us. After last Saturday and obviously events leading up to the game, I wasn't entirely sure what we was going to get but I said to the players there that if they keep giving me commitment and performances like that then we'll be ok because today was a day to learn about the players.

"They committed to the cause, it was a good effort because Luton looked like they were starting to get in their stride a little and we had to with stand some pressure.

"We just couldn't get that cutting edge to take all three points but I thought we were worthy of the point."
