Opening-half strikes from Jon Franks and Andy Monkhouse helped Hartlepool seal their first win of the season against bottom side Accrington.
Midfielder Monkhouse created the opener for Franks to fire into the far corner, before netting from 12 yards himself.
James Gray gave Stanley a second-half lifeline, clipping the ball home after getting in behind the defence.
Hartlepool goalkeeper Scott Flinders ensured victory with a near-post save from substitute Connor Mahoney.
