Injured John Boye out of Ghana's play-off against Egypt
Ghana defender John Boye has been ruled out of the Black Stars' two-legged World Cup play-off against Egypt after suffering an injury.
The 26-year-old's club Rennes said he will undergo surgery next week to fix a groin tear and faces two months out.
His absence is a double blow for Ghana as their other first choice centre-back, Jonathan Mensah, is also out of the 15 October and 19 November matches.
Mensah has been ruled out of action for six weeks with a thigh injury.
Ghana, who have yet to announce any replacements, host the first leg of the tie in Kumasi, with the return in Cairo a month later.
The aggregate winner qualifies for next year's World Cup in Brazil.
