Lincoln City 0-1 Aldershot Town

Brett Williams scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot to earn Aldershot a much-needed win at Lincoln.

Imps goalkeeper Paul Farman was kept busy in the first half, denying Jaydon Gibbs, Craig Stanley and Lewis Young.

However, there was little he could do to stop Williams after Nathaniel Brown handled in the area.

Shots keeper Nick Pope ensured victory, reacting quickly to a deflected Luke Foster effort before foiling substitute Nick Wright late on.

Despite the win, Aldershot remain second from bottom in the Conference Premier table.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Lincoln City manager Gary Simpson told BBC Radio Lincolnshire:

"The conditions suited the type of players they had, they've got pace and can take you on.

"I thought we started OK but then they had two or three chances but then we settled down, but I don't know what we were doing for the penalty.

"In the second half they had the penalty and one other shot from a free kick and it's disappointing because we've had quite a few chances. We just needed a goal but we couldn't force it."

Aldershot manager Andy Scott told BBC Sussex & Surrey:

"You run out of words to say about our team. In the first half I thought we were outstanding with some of the football we were playing in really tricky conditions. We played some great stuff and their keeper made some excellent saves.

"That's probably the most comfortable first half we've had in the way we played and our quality on the ball.

"I'm just very proud of the group and everyone of them have played their part. To come here to grab three points and get a clean sheet is a massive effort."
