Aldershot Town 2-3 Alfreton Town

Alfreton Town led three times and eventually held on for an impressive victory at Aldershot.

Jake Speight's first goal of the season from John Akinde's cross was enough to seal victory in a see-saw encounter.

Tom Shaw turned in Chris Westwood's header to put the visitors in front, but Jaydon Gibbs latched onto Mark Molesley's pass to equalise.

Josh Law's header restored Alfreton's lead and Brett Williams fired the Shots level before Speight's winner.

Aldershot Town boss Andy Scott told BBC Surrey:

"We defended horribly and got dominated by a centre-forward. Our two young lads at the back really struggled against someone who was very physical and they got bullied today.

"It was a really disappointing result and I'm really frustrated because, yet again, we played differently at home then we do away and were so open.

"We've been poor in the last few games and we have to rectify that soon.

"We know that teams are going to come here and make it hard for us and we haven't got to win it in the first five minutes, we have to be patient."

Alfreton manager Nicky Law told BBC Radio Derby:

"I've been really disappointed with our form of late. It's not been good enough. I asked for them to go out there today, give it their all, show a little bit more and I think they came out and did that in an end-to-end game.

"Both teams looked like they could score, but if I'm honest I think we could have won it more convincingly than we did.

"We read the programme before the game and one of their players was commenting that we wouldn't fancy it here today - so that was a bit of motivation. We certainly did come here and we did fancy it."
