Guernsey College Football Academy made their debut in the British Colleges League on Wednesday, but fell to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Petroc College.
The 'home' game was actually played at Bristol City's training ground, with Guernsey FC boss Tony Vance acting as the GCFA's director of football.
"All the colleges are linked to pro academies, so effectively they are second teams," he told BBC Guernsey.
"They study there but also train with Exeter City, so it was a tough test."
