Match ends, Grimsby Town 0, Scunthorpe United 0.
Grimsby and Scunthorpe will both be in the hat for the second round of the FA Cup after a goalless draw.
Ross Hannah saw an early strike saved for Grimsby while Lenell John-Lewis also went close with two headers and a strike that went over the bar.
Andy Dawson cleared off the line from John-Lewis who also forced a smart save from Scunthorpe keeper Sam Slocombe.
Substitute Deon Burton almost won it late on but his header missed the target for Scunthorpe.
VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Grimsby Town manager Paul Hurst talking to BBC Radio Humberside's John Tondeur:
"I enjoyed it and I'm sure the fans did too. It's as good as a 0-0 game you're going to get. A fantastic atmosphere and I've just said to the players going into the game you just hope that they don't freeze and they put on a performance that I think they're capable of and credit to them they certainly did that.
"I would love to manage in front of that crowd every week and I'm sure the players would love to play in front of that but we know that's not going to happen.
"We're together as a squad. It's a happy dressing room although slightly disappointed that we couldn't get that winner."
Scunthorpe United manager Brian Laws talking to BBC Radio Humberside's Mike White:
"I would certainly say I'm delighted to have another bite of the cherry. However, our link up play was pretty poor in that first period which disappointed me. I was delighted with the commitment and desire and I did say that we stressed all week that the tempo of the game is going to be very, very hot and it's going to be hard to handle at times.
"I thought our delivery to the strikers was very poor in the first-half. It was playing into, no disrespect to Clayton McDonald's hands. He's six foot six and he's going to win everything in the air.
"It was always going to be a difficult one but we have to do better with the ball. "
