Match ends, Oldham Athletic 1, MK Dons 2.
MK Dons moved to within six points of the League One play-off places thanks to an impressive first-half display against Oldham.
The Dons took just four minutes to break the deadlock when George Baldock drilled home from 20 yards.
Izale McLeod doubled their lead when he fired in Stephen Gleeson's through ball towards the end of the first half.
Oldham grabbed a consolation as Charlie MacDonald scored against his old club when he headed in Gary Harkins' corner.
Oldham manager Lee Johnson told BBC Radio Manchester:
"The first 45 minutes were unacceptable, disappointing, poor and we didn't pass it well enough. It looked like a side that was waiting to get beat in the first half.
"We maybe could have come back and got the draw so the second-half display is something to build on at least.
"For some reason, the players seem to relax a little bit after a good win and that's when you've got to go harder.
"We move onto Tranmere now, which is an important game for us, and we're looking for the characters to come out."
MK Dons manager Karl Robinson told BBC Three Counties Radio:
"I thought defensively, the whole group was very good in the first half and we denied them a lot.
"We knew they were going to come at us second half and I'm disappointed to concede a goal from a set-piece.
"But I thought the boys were magnificent, the way they stood up to the challenge was a testament to them as individuals.
"Tactically, we got it right, but were were under pressure and I couldn't have been happier with the way we've played."
