Goals from Danny Kedwell and Cody McDonald helped Gillingham beat Sheffield United and gave them only their second away win this season.

Good pressure from Kedwell forced Blades keeper George Long to rush his clearance and the ball rebounded off the Gills forward and into the net.

Neill Collins had a header cleared off the line for the hosts before Chris Porter nodded in Simon Lappin's corner.

But McDonald pounced on John Mousinho's rebounded header to seal the win.

VIEW FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"To give two goals away in the manner we did makes it very difficult to win matches.

"To give away goals at the start of each half, meant they can just sit there. We've conceded two goals, both our own doing and its hugely frustrating.

"We were a bit nervy and a bit too eager once we'd gone behind."

Gillingham boss Peter Taylor told BBC Radio Kent:

"It was a team effort. The players worked extremely hard as a group and you can't ask for more than that. That was a team performance.

"The timings of the goals were great. Maybe not the Kedwell one because he got whacked and had to go off and that was unlucky.

"But I'm chuffed for them because they worked hard.

"There are some massive football clubs in League One. It shows you what you've got to do to stay in it. We've got to have the best spirit and best workrate to survive."
