Chris Martin scores from the penalty spot during Derby's 5-1 win over Blackpool

Striker Chris Martin scored his first hat-trick in league football as Derby County beat nine-man Blackpool.

Isaiah Osbourne headed Paul Ince's team in front but the visitors collapsed after the break.

Martin twice scored from the penalty spot, as well as side-footing home from 18 yards.

Craig Bryson scored with a close-range flick and Richard Keogh made it 5-1 after Neal Bishop and Angel Martinez were sent off.

The victory made it seven wins from 10 games for Derby manager Steve McClaren.

Blackpool were without Ricardo Fuller, Kirk Broadfoot and Gary MacKenzie, who were sent off in the 1-0 defeat at Yeovil on Tuesday.

The reshuffled visitors started brightly and took an early lead when Tom Ince's inswinging free-kick found Osbourne, who headed beyond Lee Grant from 12 yards.

Derby are the Championship's leading scorers and responded with a flurry of attacks.

Midfielder Will Hughes curled a 20-yard free-kick narrowly wide and Simon Dawkins saw his diving header from Andre Wisdom's cross blocked by Chris Basham.

Two fine pieces of defending before half-time from Bishop kept Blackpool ahead as the stand-in right-back blocked shots Simon Dawkins and Martin before Bryson hooked his shot over the bar from four yards after Dawkins's low cross.

But Blackpool's hard work in the first half was undone in eight minutes after the break as Martin scored twice to put the hosts ahead.

Martin scored from the penalty spot after the striker went down in the area under pressure from Jack Robinson.

Martin put Derby ahead five minutes later when he side-footed home from the edge of the 18-yard box after Chris Basham's weak header put Blackpool under pressure.

Post-match: Blackpool boss Ince

Midfielder Bryson made it 3-1 when he flicked home from five yards after more good work Dawkins.

Martin sealed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after Bishop brought down Dawkins who was through on goal.

Martinez became the eighth Blackpool player to be sent off this season when he was shown a second yellow card with three minutes left.

Derby made it 5-1 in stoppage time through Keogh's header after Michael Keane's initial effort was saved by Matt Gilks.

Derby head coach Steve McClaren:

"Some of the football at times has been magnificent.

"Our football drew mistakes from opposition, we created fouls and desperation from them.

"Credit must go to our defenders and goalkeeper because they provide the foundation for the front five to go out and express themselves."

Blackpool assistant manager Steve Thompson on the club's disciplinary record:

"I don't think it's a lack of discipline, it might be in part but it is also down to a lack of judgement.

"It comes down top self-control. When you are on a yellow card you are walking as tightrope and the last thing you need to do is make a rash tackle.

"That's what's letting us down at the moment and it has to stop happening."
