AFC Telford: Liam Watson proud of win in tough conditions

Bucks Head

AFC Telford boss Liam Watson has called Saturday's 1-0 win at Workington one of the finest away victories they can get.

Russell Benjamin's first-half winner at a gale and rain-lashed Borough Park moved Telford up to fifth in the Conference North table.

Alberto Saidi was denied a late equaliser before the sub was sent off for raising his hands to Matty McGinn.

"I don't think you'll ever get a better three points away from home," Watson told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"They were the hardest conditions I've ever come across.

"We needed a win, and what character we showed. You can't talk about individual performances - the collective work-rate was tremendous."
