Workington name Ian McDonald as new manager
Workington have appointed former player Ian McDonald as manager, one week after
Barrow-born McDonald, 60, began his playing career with his hometown club before moving to Borough Park in 1973.
One season later the midfielder joined Liverpool for £33,333, a fee that is still Workington's club record sale.
He failed to make an appearance at Anfield, but but went on to play over 300 times at Aldershot.
He had a spell at caretaker boss for Aldershot in 1991-92, and has also worked for Millwall, Portsmouth, Kingstonian, where he won the FA Trophy in 2000 and 2001, Hampton & Richmond and Farnborough.
His appointment is the first by the new Workington chairman Glenn Heathcote after along with Edmondson, earlier this month.
